Mr. José Serrato serves the students at Los Cuates Middle School as Principal for the 2025-2026 school year. Mr. Serrato has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2021. During his career in public education that began in 2010, Mr. Serrato has served as social studies teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal.  Prior to his current role, he has previously served as assistant principal at Los Cuates Middle School. Mr. Serrato received his Bachelor of Arts (History) degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College and his Master of Education (Counseling and Development) from Lamar University. He was part of Los Fresnos CISD Aspiring Principal Fellowship. He continues to be an active member in the United States Army Reserve and is currently an Automated Logistical Specialist instructor in the 9/95th (Battalion) of the 94th Training Division.
