LCMS students have had quite an experience these first few weeks of school.  We were told a hurricane was on the way and everyone quickly prepared for the storm.  Thankfully, it didn’t hit our community. Yet at the same time, it was a terrible experience for many in Texas.  When the call for aid went out, our students took charge.  Collecting water, diapers, and other needed supplies, the students worked diligently to pack up and send box after box filled with care.  Although Hurricane Harvey might go down in the record books as the worst storm in many decades, our students should equally be remembered for their unselfish generosity.

Building on that keen sense of community, the Los Cuates Student Council began working with the Kindness Project to challenge our student body to make a difference in the world for one child at a time.  Students have been going through their closets searching for shoes that are still good but no longer fit them.  These shoes will be part of a very special mission.  They are going to be sent to an orphanage and surrounding village in Kenya, Africa.
Brian Williams Gets The Crowd Going.

Students got to listen to Brian Williams tell his own personal tale of kindness. They learned that in order to get an education, the children of Kenya need to have shoes.  For those who have very little, this requirement is overwhelming.  But because Los Cuates kids are natural leaders, they are taking charge and changing the world one pair of shoes at a time.  Shoes are being collected by Mrs. Cranick and the Student Council.  The class that collects the most shoes is getting a treat, nachos.  Brian is going to return to Los Cuates and pick up the shoes so they can be shipped to Africa.

Brian Motivates the crowd with a passion.
